Client is a manufacturer of plastic materials specifically developed for specialized applications in packaging for electronics, medical device, food, pharmaceutical, and other products requiring protection from contamination, moisture, light, and other factors affecting freshness, taste or function. We seek an expert Process Development and Equipment Engineer to lead projects involving the scale-up and commercialization of extrusion and converting processes for a new class of thermoplastic materials. Responsibilities:
The Process Development and Equipment Engineer will be a key player on a team of remarkable and talented professionals producing the next generation of advanced packaging products. Duties will include:
- Lead major projects involving the design of specialized equipment, methods, and tooling required to extrude highly filled thermoplastic materials.
- Coordinate with Customers, Materials R&D, Tooling and Equipment Vendors, and Manufacturing personnel the scale-up of production processes from lab to full commercialization.
- Participate in fundamental research projects involving the development of materials and advanced manufacturing equipment and processing systems.
- Monitor and participate in academic and industrial research and development projects related to plastic packaging.
Requirements include:
- Multidisciplinary Educational Background with an Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MS or Ph.d in Plastics, Polymer, or Materials Engineering.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in the plastics industry with specific knowledge of extruding and converting equipment and die design, processing methods, and the rheology of highly filled thermoplastic composite materials.
- At least 3 years of direct, hands on, post graduate experience involving the selection, design, and modification of thermoplastic extrusion and converting equipment and tooling.
- Experience in fundamental research and the scale-up of radically new processes to full commercialization.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and share technical information with a broad range of other engineers, manufacturing, management, and others including top level materials research and development experts.
