Our client is a large custom injection molder producing high quality plastic closures for customers nationwide. Recent promotions have created an immediate need for a Senior Project Engineer with exceptional experience in high volume, precision small part injection molding. Responsibilities:
The Senior Project Engineer will play a key role in the development of new products and the injection molding processes and equipment required to produce those components. Duties will include the following.
- Management of new product development projects from concept to delivery of finished product.
- Work with Customer to understand required closure features and functional requirements and coordinate product design and materials selection (including selection of lining materials).
- Oversee the development and testing of prototypes for customer approval.
- Selection of tooling vendors and supervision of tool design and construction to ensure product integrity and manufacturability.
- Oversee new tool start up, validation, and transfer to full production.
- Coordinate the design and layout of production lines include fixture design, liner assembly automation, quality systems, and packaging.
Requirements include:
- BS in Plastics, Mechanical or other Engineering discipline.
- At least 8 to 10 years of experience in injection molding of high volume, precision small parts. Specific experience in injection molded closures is ideal.
- Candidates must have specific strengths in the design and construction of durable, high cavitation tooling including hot runner and unscrewing molds.
- Experience with ProE, Solidworks, or AutoCAD is required.
