Responsibilities:
The Product Development Engineer will be part of a team of highly innovative professionals that listen to customers, follow trends and technology, and work with a wide range of resources to develop ideas for new products. The Product Development Engineer will:
- Participate in the generation of new product ideas. Produce sketches and refine ideas through literature search and discussions with other engineers, designers, marketing and management personnel.
- Coordinate the production of prototypes, organize evaluation and laboratory testing, and analyze the results. Testing will involve laboratory analysis of materials for Consumer and Food Safety as well as design evaluation for function, ergonomics, customer appeal, etc.
- Champion the further development of promising new concepts and make recommendations for design improvements, material selection, and other attributes.
- Coordinate with Marketing, Product Engineers, Program Managers and Legal to produce costing and manufacturing analysis, protect intellectual property, and recommend selected products for production.
- Maintain database and ensure that prototypes, samples, drawings, and related documentation are properly prepared and archived.
Requirements include:
- BS Engineering (Plastics, Mechanical, Materials)
- 2 to 3 years of experience in the development of consumer products. Specific experience in literature search, patent and intellectual property, materials selection, concept development, etc.
- Knowledge of materials including Plastics, Ceramics, and Metals.
- CAD and CAE skills.
- Presentation and communication skills.
- Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship.
