Responsibilities:
The Product Development Engineer will be part of an elite team of Engineering, Marketing, and Manufacturing professionals dedicated to applying advanced technology and innovation to meet the needs of customers for performance packaging products. The primary contribution of the Product Development Engineer will be to provide technical skills and leadership in the development and testing of flexible packaging film materials and the processes necessary to produce these films. Focus will be on high barrier coextruded films and custom multilayered films and related coating, laminating, and printing processes. In addition, the Product Development Engineer will:
- Work as a liaison between customers and internal departments to develop an understanding of customers’ quality expectations and lead the resolution of technical related quality issues.
- Collaborate with customers, marketing, manufacturing and other technical associates to develop and qualify new grades of flexible packaging film
- Initiate and lead projects to strengthen the flexible packaging business via process improvements and optimization
- Help manage customer expectations during the product development process
- Lead and facilitate problem-solving teams
- Use quality techniques to reduce process variation or refine process parameters based on results
- Analyze customer complaints
- Perform root cause analysis and failure investigation
Requirements include:

- Bachelors in Chemical, Packaging or similar Engineering or Scientific Disciplines.
- Minimum 5 years experience in development of barrier and sealant films for the flexible packaging market.
- Film extrusion – blown polyethylene and polyolefin extrusion and co-extrusion, film additives and polyolefin resins.
- Solid background in converting with an emphasis on flexible packaging, adhesive lamination, flexographic printing, pouch making, HFFS and/or VFFS a plus.
- Experience with Six Sigma, Lean and ISO
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Ability to travel 40 – 60%
