Sr. Packaging Engineer

Our client is one of America’s largest packaged foods manufacturers.  With sales exceeding $3 billion, the company is regarded as one of the premier employers in their industry.  We seek an experienced Packaging Engineer to lead the development of new packaging systems and guide the continual improvement of packaging operations for the Frozen Foods division.  This is a tremendous opportunity to apply what you’ve learned and advance your career. 

Responsibilities:

The Senior Packaging Engineer will have responsibilities in two areas. You will support production operations through packaging equipment upgrades, efficiency improvements, and cost reductions.  In addition, your insight and direction in the development of new packaging materials, package design, and equipment technology will play a key role in meeting future customer and market requirements.  Duties will include:

Technical support for Multiple Manufacturing Facilities in North America with a focus on:

• Reducing packaging operations costs.
• Packaging material savings and yield improvements.
• Manufacturing line efficiency and automation improvement.
• Systems coordination to ensure finished package quality.
• Leading the development of the Corporate Packaging Sustainability Program.
• Development and implementation of new packaging designs.
• Recommend new packaging technologies for implementation.
• Utilizing Six Sigma and related problem-solving techniques to determine root causes of packaging problems.

Requirements include:

• Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Packaging Engineering
• At least 5 to 8 years of experience in the consumer packaged goods industry that includes 3 or more years of experience specifically in frozen foods and entres.
• Proven skills in the development of packaging equipment and materials including the establishment of long term relationships and contacts with vendors and service providers.
• Well developed organizational, leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to travel extensively.
