Process Engineer - Injection Molding

Our client is a high volume, precision plastic injection molder located in Indiana.  We seek a Process Engineer with exceptional skills and experience in high volume, close tolerance injection molding.  If you have experience in state of the art plastic molding, have worked with advanced tooling (unscrewing, cam action, strip, high cavitation), and want to take your career to the next level- you should contact us right away.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Process Engineer will provide expert technical support for high volume precision component injection molding.  Primary responsibility will be to troubleshoot molding process, tooling, machine and materials problems, manage new/modified tool start-up and validation, and optimize injection molding processes to reduce cost and improve quality.   Duties will include:

• Working with other Engineers early in the development of new products to provide expertise and support Design for Manufacture process.
• Coordinate and assist Project and Tooling Engineers in the start-up, testing and validation of tools.
• Train Process Technicians in procedures for correctly installing molds, programming machines, obtaining first part approval, and optimizing cycle times.
• Responsible for day to day troubleshooting of processing, materials, tooling and machine problems.
• Travel to vendors and other production facilities as needed to support injection molding, tooling, and new product launch activities.

Requirements include:

• A BS Engineering and a minimum of 8 to 10 years experience in the plastics industry with specific skills in the set-up and optimization of injection molding machines.  Client will also consider non-degreed candidates with outstanding injection molding and tooling skills and a minimum of 15 years experience.
• Ability to recognize molding process, tooling, materials and other problems, troubleshoot, and correctly identify and correct these problems.  
• Specific experience working with high cavitation, precision unscrewing, strip, cam action, and other complex tooling.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
