Chemical Process Development Engineer

Responsibilities:

The Chemical Process Development Engineer to work in state of the art chemical process research and development.  Primary focus will be in Pilot Plant Operations and the scale-up of chemical plant processes and products from lab scale to full commercialization.  We seek an experienced engineer with chemical plant process and project experience to:

• Operate the pilot plant and coordinate the development of experimental processes from lab scale to pilot plant and then commercial scale production.
• Develop economic justifications, establish timelines and budgets, track and report achievement of project performance goals. 
• Work with other Engineers, Chemists, and Manufacturing Technicians to design, construct and test equipment and operations procedures required for development projects.
• Evaluate and continually adjust and improve processes, procedures, and equipment to control and reduce capital and operating costs. 
• Mentor and develop engineering and technical staff.
• Assist in justification, selection, and installation of capital equipment.
• Development of documentation for compliance to FDA, ISO, OSHA, and EPA regulations. 

Requirements include:

• Minimum of a BS Chemical Engineering.  Prefer MS Chemical Engineering.
• A minimum of 5 to 8 years of “hands on” experience in Chemical Plant Engineering and at least 3 years in scale up of Pilot Plant Production for the Commercialization of new products.
• Specific experience in corn, soybean, sugar, citric acid, biomass or similar chemical plant operations.
• Ability to fully understand complex chemical processes, prepare mass and energy balances, design and layout process equipment, and acquire data for troubleshooting and problem solving.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills and ability to work in high performance teams.
