Process Engineer - Medical Device Injection Molding and Extrusion

Responsibilities:

The Process Engineer is responsible for supervising the manufacture of plastic medical device components and for providing technical support to continually improve processes, tooling, and equipment.   Duties will include:

• Management of day to day plastic molding and extrusion production operations including personnel selection, training, work assignment, and performance evaluations.
• Establishing production schedules and monitors day to day manufacturing to ensure production objectives and quality standards are met.
• Producing and maintaining required FDA and ISO regulatory and quality documentation.
• Continually improving production efficiency and reduces costs by evaluating and making recommendations for upgrades to equipment, personnel, training, and automation.
• Providing expertise in the evaluation and testing of plastic materials.
• Participating in new product development projects by assisting in Design for Manufacturing analyses for product and tooling design and materials selection.
• Organizing and coordinating new tool sampling and validation processes (DOE).
• Maintaining a safe and efficient workplace.

Requirements include:

• BS Plastics, Chemical or Materials Engineering or equivalent experience.   
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in precision, high cosmetic value, high quality injection molding with demonstrable skills in Systematic/Decoupled molding and Process Optimization techniques, Design for Manufacture, Design of Experiment, Polymer Materials Selection and Testing, and Capital Equipment justification/selection/installation.  
• At least 3 years supervisory experience.
• Preference for engineers with 2 or more years additional experience in tubing or profile extrusion processes.
• Specific training and experience in the documentation, validation, and compliance to FDA/GMP, ISO 9000 and 13485 quality and regulatory compliance procedures.
