General  Manager

The employer is a compounder and distributor of additives for the plastics industry.  Sales in US, European and Asian markets are increasing.  This success has created an immediate need for a General Manager to take the company to the next level.  If you are seeking an opportunity offering tremendous challenge and advancement -this could be that opportunity. 

Responsibilities:

The General Manager will report directly to the President/CEO and will have full responsibility for managing production operations and leading the firms’ sales and marketing efforts.  Focus will be on the development of systems to continually improve productivity and efficiency, develop new products, and strengthen sales and distribution efforts.  Duties will include:   

• Development of strategic and tactical objectives and criteria to measure performance.
• Manage production operations through the direction and mentoring of operations, purchasing, quality, and engineering personnel.
• Substantial customer and distributor contact to support new business development initiatives, coordinate new product development and testing, and resolve quality or delivery issues.  This will require travel in the United States and Internationally.
• Development and implementation of capital and operating budgets including regular performance reporting to Corporate Management.
• Manage corporate compliance to Federal, State, and Local Safety and Environmental laws and procedures.

Requirements include

• BS in Engineering or Business discipline.  MBA is desirable.
• Minimum of 8 to 10 years experience in manufacturing, preferably in the management of color, additive, or other thermoplastic compounding operations. 
• Understanding of extrusion technology and hands on experience in the use of twin screw extruders.
• At least 2-3 years of experience in sales, marketing, or technical service assignments involving direct contact with customers and/or distributors in the development of new business. 
• Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills and proven ability to work productively with all levels of management, production personnel, and customers.
