Process Engineer - Blown Film / Lamination

Our client is a highly successful and expanding manufacturer of specialty plastic bags and related flexible packaging products.  Their Chicago facility continues to expand and we seek a Plastic Engineer  

with experience in Blown film Extrusion and Lamination Processes.

Responsibilities:

The Plastic Process Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer will be part of the Lean Manufacturing Team and have responsibility for:

• Supporting Blown Film Extrusion and Laminating processes by analyzing (Root Cause) production problems and implementing technical solutions.
• Developing process improvements designed to eliminate bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
• Assist in new product development projects.
• Implement Capital Equipment upgrade or replacement programs, methods improvements, and automation systems installations.
• Support Lean Manufacturing Systems and Continual Improvement programs.

Requirements include:

• BS Chemical, Mechanical or Plastics Engineering
• Two or more years of experience in blown film, web handling, laminating or plastic bag converting processes.
• Understanding of electro-mechanical, electronic and related machine control systems.
• Strong Six Sigma analytical (minitab) and related Root Cause, Failure Analysis, and Lean Manufacturing technique skills.
• CAD skills are preferred (AutoCAD, ProE, etc)
