Product Development Engineer-Medcial Device

Salary Minimum: $80,000 to $90,000 plus bonus

Client is a fast growing medical device company driven by new product development.  The company is currently developing a number of plastic disposable products and we seek an experienced Senior Research and Development Engineer to take the lead in bringing those products to market.  If you have experience in the development of medical device plastic disposables, we should talk without delay!

 

Responsibilities:

The Senior Research and Development Engineer will lead multiple development projects.  These are exciting times for our client and your ability to lead projects from concept through design, testing, and transfer to full production is the key.  Other duties include:

  • Work closely with end users, marketing and others to define and understand new product application and required attributes; develop project budget and timelines; and coordinate all aspects of project planning and implementation.
  • Coordinate and provide technical support in initial product design, materials research and selection, sourcing of required tooling, prototyping and product testing.
  • Manage and coordinate the development and validation of product manufacturing processes and assist in troubleshooting problems related to materials, equipment, tooling, etc.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs to ensure that required FDA and ISO documentation, submittals, design and validation protocols are fully met.
  • Produce and deliver regular reports to management regarding project budget, timeline, personnel and other project information.

 

Requirements include:

 

  • B.S. Degree in Plastics, Mechanical or other Engineering.  Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in plastic medical device research and development.   
  • Knowledge of Medical Device Industry protocols and procedures for compliance to Quality Systems Regulations, cGMP, Medical Device Directive and ISO regulations.  Candidates without Medical Device Industry specific compliance and protocol procedures will not be considered.
  • Passion for innovative design and skills in organizing and leading project teams.
  • Strengths in medical grade plastic materials, understanding of tooling design and construction, and knowledge of plastic molding and assembly processes.
